Dissertation research has started! Thoughts of life experience and why I am the artist I am are beginning to emerge as core themes. The reason I work in the way I do stems from childhood experience of making and playing in the rural landscape. This engagement with materiality; making and playing within the elements fuels creativity today. Memory and place underpin my reasoning. The Cloth & Memory exhibition at Salts Mill resonates such sensitive aspects of social history. The work has been influenced by the space itself combined with personal memories of the artists involved. It is beautifully executed within the space. Space and place are also areas of practice that are important to me; something I need to look deeper into!
