As the role of Student Ambassador it has brought to light how often I am asked 'what do you do, what is your practice?'
I always answer 'I work with natural organic materials' and then struggle to be clear about what I do with them. I associate myself with Andy Goldsworthy which gives people an idea, but although he is the artist that has always influenced and driven my practice I would say my work is visually different. I need to be clear about what my practice is about! ‘I work with only organic and natural materials to highlight the physicality of materiality and the texture of making. At present I am exploring the joining together of handmade paper, stitch and organic matter such as decaying leaves. It is the physical act of piercing through materials that excites me.’ 14/4/16
